About Me

I used to work at the JC Penney store when I was a teenager from 1976-1981 so on my lunch hours I wandered the mall.  It was always such a cheerful mall and unlike Wastmoreland Mall - it was bright and sunny.  The decorations at Chirstmas were always so well done.  It was a shame what happened to it and how the mall got run down those last few years

About Me

I have lived in Buford, Georgia for about 4 years, grew up in the Mt. Pleasant, Scottdale area.

Some of my favorite memories as a child were at Greengate Mall. Seeing these pictures take me right back to my childhood. Thank you :)

About Me

I am 33 years old and mother of two children.  I live across from the Old Greengate Mall (I will never say across from Wal-Mart )  I watched and heard the Mall being Demolished.  I used to love sitting on my balacony and looking across the highway at the Mall.  Now I hate the view since wal-mart came there.

I spent a large part of my life and a lot of things happened at Greengate Mall!  I will never forget it!

About Me

I miss this mall. So many memories.... Throwing money away at Tilt to buying candy buttons next to Penney's, it sure does take me back. The first Wendy's that I can recall in this area. Have you heard of Sbarro Pizza since this place closed? The fountain in the courtyard, where I threw many a penny to the unrelenting time I spent shopping with my mother in Sears. Some many Christmas presents were given to me from here. My first visit with Santa, the Easter Bunny, the train ride and my turtle Toby, from the Deb-Mar pet store. I could go on and on..... it's a shame I was too young to appreciate it then.

About Me

I just loved "THE MALL" as a teen wandering around, and most of my first jobs where there.

Little did I know that after I moved from this area that it would close it doors.

Greengate had the park-like setting of Idlewild, instead of the rush of Westmoreland Mall and  Kennywood.  It made shopping and just hanging out a pleasure, not a rush.  Too bad for us in this very busy world.

The atmosphere was low key, not the the hyper-sterile!

And, where can we find "A Shop Called East" anymore?  Our area is so full of Americana and is slow in "catching any wave" that even that shop would raise eyebrows now around here!
